Birthday Week!

I have the BESTEST friends ever! Well, mostly just one special one named Alexis Venable. This week was my birthday week. Yes, I don't have a birthday, I have a birthday week; one day is not long enough to celebrate! But this year I was completely in the dark about what was going to happen.
Starting on tuesday, I was told to not eat dinner. Lexi picked me up and drove me around town to confuse me, but we ended up at Happy Sushi, one of my favorite places to eat in Logan. And when we walked inside, all my friends were there to suprise me! It was great! And then we went to Casper's, a sweet little ice cream parlor. And then we went and saw 17 again (great movie!). It was such a good day! and it was only day 1!! Day 2 was just as good. Lexi picked me up and we went to this new Hawaiian place called Pounders. We got the food to go and went to the park to eat it. After eating we swung on the swings and played around. It was great! And then day 3 was my actual birthday. Me and Lex got up and went to breakfast at Einsteins and Jamba and then I took her to class. Then the day proceeded like it usually does: school. Although when I got home, Lexi and her roommates came up to give me cupcakes and a present and then we headed out.... TO THE LAKE! yup we went canoeing and kayaking! It was so fun! They packed a picnic to eat at the lake and it was delicious! We all had a blast! It did get a little bit chilly and windy towards the end but it was still so much fun! I had never been canoeing before. And then we went home and I went out to dinner with my roommates. We went to Cafe Sabor. I had never been there before, and I figured out why they took me there: when it's your birthday they make you wear a big sombrero! It was pretty embarrassing, but still so much fun. And then we went home and watched Australia! It was such a good day! One of the best birthdays I've had in a long time! And my mom and britt are coming up tomorrow to celebrate! I'm so excited! I really think this week has been the best one I've has since I've lived in Logan. (It might have something to do with the fact that soccer is over... but I'm not sure :) ) Even though I'm having so much fun, I move home in a week and I'm pretty excited for that.

loves to you all,
meg

Circus!

My eyes have been opened up to a whole new kind of experience.. Two nights ago, thinking I was just going to a meesly old Britney Spears concert. I guess I should have known that Britney would not be like everyone else... It was the MOST AMAZING concert I've ever been to! I don't even know if you could call it a concert, it was more of a SHOW. When the house lights went down and everyone thought she was going to come out, there was an entire circus performance for like a half hour! There were unicyclists, jugglers, dancers, and other people who did such cool tricks I can't even describe it. Then it finally happened: Britney Spears decended from the sky! It was the coolest show ever. Britney looked great and did a great job. They even did magic tricks while she was singing. They cut her in half and she even disappeared and reappeared on the other side of the stage! It was amazing. I was so lucky to share this wonderful experience with my lovely sister, and my friend Ryan Snow and Britt's friend Analee. Here are some amazing pictures!

April Fools!

Below is a copy of the letter that I read to Jessica and Jamison before school on April Fool's Day. It was printed on the school letterhead, so as to look "official."

Dear Parents,

It has come to the attention of the Wasatch County School Board that the vacation period has been miscalculated this year. The current school year as scheduled will end eight days shorter than allowed. Therefore, all schools in the Wasatch County School District including Midway Elementary will be in session all upcoming Saturdays through the end of the school year beginning immediately with this upcoming Saturday. We regret the inconvenience this may cause to your families. However, to maintain our funding in these economically challenged times, we must comply with the mandate “No Child Left Behind” and its minimum number of school days policy.

School hours will convene on Saturdays according to the Tuesday through Friday schedule. Likewise busses will run on the same coordinating schedule. The dates affected by this change in schedule are as follows:

April 4, 2009
April 11, 2009
April 18, 2009
April 25, 2009
May 2, 2009
May 9, 2009
May 16, 2009
May 23, 2009

Please direct any questions you may have to our office at 654-0472 or to the District Office at 654-0280. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

You can imagine the weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth that commenced. I even got their teachers in on it, so it lasted all day... Sometimes it's just plain fun to be a mom.
